to Goodwin University’s 2021—2022 academic year. Before writing to you, I reflected on my message in last year’s catalog, composed early in the COVID-19 pandemic. While many things had already been affected at that point, we couldn’t have predicted how completely our world was about to change.

There have been innumerable losses and victories during the past year, and I venture to say that not one of us is untouched by this worldwide challenge. As president of the University, I have tried to consider carefully the correct words to use and the best steps to take along the way. That said, I have always — always — been inspired by the resilience of our students, faculty, and staff.

There are, however, reasons for optimism. As of this writing, restrictions are gradually being lifted, and we were able to hold an in-person Commencement ceremony to recognize our 2020 and 2021 graduates. A date is set to return to 100% occupancy here on campus.

Still, we move forward with appropriate caution. Whether you are pursing your degree on ground or online, at the undergraduate or graduate level, I applaud your commitment to further your education and enrich your life, your family’s well-being, and the quality of the communities to which you belong.

Wishing you nothing but success with us!
