Online Studies
Goal of the Online Studies Department
To provide our online students with interactive educational online experiences that are engaging and stimulating for strong learning.
About our Online Programs
The online studies department offers online learning options in associate's, bachelor's, and master's programs. Students may complete degrees completely online or with hybrid classes that combine online and on-campus instruction. Online courses offer a similar level of interactivity and engagement received in a traditional classroom setting but at times that are more convenient for students. The online studies department staff collaborate with the Center of Teaching Excellence (CTE) to deliver professional development enabling faculty to work effectively in online environments.
The online studies program maximizes student access to courses through the use of a web-based delivery system. Students enrolling in online studies programs in the summer of 2017 will begin using a new version of the learning management system, Blackboard Learn SaaS, for delivery of all courses and services. This version is the same Blackboard Learn but delivered with cloud computing technology. Students will be pleased with the Mobile Learn app (Bbstudent), for iOS and Android that enables them to access much of the Blackboard Learn content from their mobile devices. The new Blackboard version also has a different Ultra navigation interface; however, the actual course content maintains the format familiar to returning students and faculty.
Online Studies System Requirements
Students enrolling in online studies programs use Blackboard for delivery of all courses and services. Online students complete an extensive online orientation course prior to starting their first online course.
